This is my review on the CYMA M14, based on my personal experiences. I have owned my CYMA M14 for 2 years now, and i couldn't be happier with it.
The CYMA M14 is a fantastically made clone of the Tokyo Marui M14, but it'll only cost you a fraction of the price. This is the main aspect that sets it apart from the Tokyo Marui version, making it a highly affordable airsoft gun, for any airsoft player. We can see the CYMA M14 is a clone because any Tokyo Marui M14 magazine will be compatible, aswell as other Tokyo Marui parts.
Although you pay only a fraction of the price, do not be fooled. The build quality of the CYMA M14 is fantastic. The mock wooden stock/body is made out of durable ABS plastic, and really accompanies the look of the gun. The use of the ABS plastic stock/body keeps the weight manageable, yet keeps the great old school look of the M14. The top handguard is also made of durable ABS plastic. The only external plastic part is the fire selector. The rest of the gun is made up of mostly steel, and it's through this excessive use of steel, that the gun gets it weight from. This includes the stock plate, trigger, trigger guard, magazine release, receiver, cocking handle, sling mounts, barrel, flash hider and of course the magazine. The gearbox in this gun is a version 7 gearbox, and its made of metal. As you can see, the CYMA M14 is a fantastically built gun.
Included in the box is a user manual, magazine, sling, cleaning rod, battery, charger and of course the gun itself. I'd recommend you just throw the sling away as it's very cheaply made and would break in no time. I'd recommend you hold onto the user manual and cleaning rod as they are essential in fixing any problems that may occur. The charger included is just a standard charger, with a long enough charge time of about 5 hours. It's nothing special but it's good enough to get you started. I'd recommend you upgrade to a smart charger as it will charge your airsoft batteries in under half the time of the charger included. The battery included is an 8.4v 1100mah battery, and it's actually useful. A full charge will last you about 3-5 hours, depending on the amount of full auto you use. The RPM you'll get out of this battery is about 600 RPM. Just like the charger, It would be best to upgrade the battery to maybe a 9.6v 1600mah battery, giving you a greater battery life of about 5-7 hours and a higher RPM of about 900 RPM. As you can see, the other parts included in the box are of decent enough quality to use, apart from the sling.
Out on the field, this gun is a solid performer. I'd highly recommend you stick to outdoor fields with this gun and avoid CQB if possible, as the gun is over a meter long and has a hefty weight. It's not ideal for CQB, and you will be out matched by smaller and lighter guns. If you keep engagements from medium to long range, this is where the gun preforms at its best. You'll find yourself easily hitting targets up to 150 feet, out preforming a lot of other guns. The deadly accuracy is one of the best features of the gun. When you buy the gun, it already has a built in tight bore barrel, for utmost accuracy. Since the gun comes with an already built in tight bore barrel, you will find that some cheaper quality airsoft BB's will jam inside the gun immediately. I'd recommend Blaster BB's or King Arms BB's, both work flawlessly. This gun can be used in several different roles. It can be used as an all round assault rifle, marksman rifle or even a support gunner. You'll find that there is the accessories out there to fit your role of playing with this gun. This gun is a great performer out on the field and gives you great options on how you play with it.
As far as accessories go, there is great amount of options. I've purchased many accessories for my gun such as a stock pad/cheek rest, dual magazine, short sniper magazine, rail, 4x40 scope, red dot sight, 3 point sling and a bipod. There is also an option to screw on a silencer/tracer unit to the end of the barrel using the 14mm anti clockwise thread. The use of these accessories makes me able to carry out the role of any of the 3 roles I mentioned above, without having 3 different guns to do so.
I would definitely recommend this gun to anyone. For your money you get an amazingly built gun that is made to last. It's a fantastic performer out on the field and can serve several different roles with the correct attachments. It also comes with what you need in the box to get out onto the field. That concludes my review on the CYMA M14. If you have any questions/comments feel free to post them.
